Festival Foods Fireworks – The skies over Appleton Memorial Park will be lit up on Wednesday, July 3rd to celebrate our nation’s independence. For over 80 years, the Appleton Area Jaycees have hosted this annual, family-friendly event. This year’s Title Sponsor is Festival Foods.

Festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. with the local opening band Subject 2 Change followed by the headliner band Boogie & The Yo-Yo’z. The fireworks display begins at dusk and Boogie & The Yo-Yo’z will perform an encore set afterwards. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the Pavilion.

New this year – tickets must be used to purchase food and beverages. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth the day of the event.

Paperfest is a 501c3 nonprofit that strengthens our community by utilizing the expertise of volunteers and generosity of great sponsors to bring the community together for a fun event. Covenant Christian Reformed Church Youth Group presents the full length Broadway musical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.  This show is very appropriate for all ages.

Free general admission tickets will be available at the door. Cash donations appreciated at the show.

Performances will be held Thursday July 14th at 7pm, Friday July 15th at 7pm, and Saturday July 16th at 2pm & 7pm. Concessions will be available at intermission. Doors open 30 minutes before show time.

Wisconsin based MPK Christian Celtic Band makes their first-ever trip to Oshkosh for a concert that is not to be missed. Combining traditional Celtic music with gospel lyrics, this concert will bring out the Irish in all of us.

Doors will open at 6pm, show at 7pm, a FREE will offering will be taken as there is no admission fee.

Jenn Bostic is a soulful singer songwriter with a hint of pop blues and gospel period.  Her emotional songwriting and powerful vocals have been touching hearts around the world. She has performed on the stages of the Grand Old Opry, the Ryman Auditorium and Jazz at Lincoln Center as well as the BBC Breakfast, BBC Songs of Praise Daystar, and TBN.

Jenn was twice named International Touring Artist of the Year.

Nate Gordon, JAARS pilot and author, will speak about his experiences in Indonesia as a mission pilot serving in support of Bible translation

Nate and Sheri Gordon had the privilege of living and working in Papua, Indonesia for twenty-two years where they served on a team of missionary aviators reaching the most isolated people on the planet. Nate has written about his experiences flying in Papua in his gripping new book, Airborne at the End of the Earth.

Nate is currently based in North Carolina where he now leads a software development team at JAARS developing FlightSpan™️—software used in the cockpits of mission aircraft designed to make missionary pilots’ jobs easier and safer.

Become a Volunteer Ombudsman for Long Term Care Residents

The Board on Aging and Long Term Care is recruiting volunteers in North Eastern Wisconsin.   Volunteer Ombudsmen, come from all walks of life, are carefully screened, trained, and receive ongoing support and supervision from the area Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer Ombudsmen make a difference in the lives of nursing home residents by:

• Advocating for residents
• Being a Voice for residents
• Educating residents, families and staff about Residents Rights
• Empowering the residents to speak for themselves
• Listening to the residents
• Acting as the “eyes and ears” of the Regional Ombudsman

Volunteer Ombudsmen are a valuable resource for residents and their efforts are respected.

Volunteer Ombudsmen give their time and energy to help give residents a sense of security.  Residents look forward to the Volunteer Ombudsman’s weekly visits. Those weekly visits bring smiles to the faces of residents, and to the faces of the Volunteer Ombudsmen!  For more information please call:
