♦ Ice cream, fresh berries, sliced peaches, hot fudge and caramel- tuck it under any Sundae. Add sliced almonds or toasted nuts, use in place of shortcake, makes a nice base for Bananas Foster.
♦ Slice cake into slices as thick as you’d like. Butter both sides generously.
♦ Fry stove-top over medium heat until lightly browned and crispy on the edges, 1-2 minutes per side. Or bake at 350 degrees 5-6 minutes per side. You can also broil or grill them. Any way you ‘slice it’, the sugar in the cake caramelizes and the butter browns …the flavor is so good.
♦ Serve Grilled Pound Cake slices warm, topped with your favorite chilled, sweetened fruit, warm fruit compote or ice cream and toppings.
~ Toast cubes of pound cake on a sheet pan in the oven before adding them to your favorite Trifle.
~ Pound cake freezes well and thaws quickly to slice. Keep a loaf in the freezer for a quick dessert next time friends stop by.
