Ingredients
Filling
  • 4 large diced apples
  • my favorites are 2 Cortland, 1 Macintosh, 1 Honey Crisp
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
Topping
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup butter
  • chopped walnuts, optional
Instructions
  1. ♦ Peel and slice apples into thin slices.
    ♦ Mix the rest of the filling ingredients and gently toss with apple slices.
    ♦ Arrange coated apples evenly in the pie shell.
  2. ♦ Mix topping ingredients with a fork or pastry blender to make a crumb topping.
    ♦ Stir in nuts if desired. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
  3. ♦ Put into an oven pre-heated to 425 degrees. Lower temperature to 375 degrees and bake for 50-60 minutes, until crust is done and topping is browned.
